PLANNING BOARD APPROVES OKEECHOBEE BUSINESS DISTRICT

The West Palm Beach Planning Board voted unanimously on July 26th in support of the new Okeechobee Business District. The Okeechobee Business District (OBD) conforms with our city’s original Master Plan which concentrates tall buildings along the Okeechobee Corridor where other tall buildings already exist. The District connects with the Flagler Financial District creating a business and financial hub.

The Okeechobee Business District –

Ensures perpetually protected views of the waterfront by requiring buildings be set back 300 feet from Flagler Drive.
Ensures preservation of one of the City’s Landmark historic buildings, including the First Church of Christ, Scientist.
Extends the public greenway along Flagler Drive at no additional cost to taxpayers.
Requires green building certification (e.g. LEED Silver) on future development.
Requires a mobility plan that meets the city’s goals and standards.
